The BC NDP leader is defending his use of the childcare subsidy scheme. Critics claim that his family exceeds the income limit for the subsidy. The leader explains that his wife stayed time off without pay for cancer treatment. This allowed them to qualify for the help. He asserts his family donated the money back to the system. They wanted to help others. During a stop in North Delta, he vowed to build a new urgent care centre. He also wants a new BC shipyard. He compared his plans to the Conservative candidate who seeks lower taxes.
