Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been signed by Geelong, with the deal completed on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been long rumoured for the Cats after Essendon placed a strong asking price on the defender. Essendon were not budging on their valuation throughout the trade period.

The finalised deal gives Geelong an experienced backman while Essendon picks up Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is capable across multiple positions who strengthens the Essendon list heading into the new season.
